As a licensed general contracting firm, we can provide all the services required to see your project through to completion.
DESIGN - SITE PREP -FOUNDATION - FRAMING - EXTERIOR - INTERIOR FINISH - SPECIALTIES
DESIGN - Experience with all styles of traditional and modern building. Conceptual design and drafting of plans & specifications can be handled in-house, or we can have the work prepared by reputable associate engineers and designers. Of course we can and want to work with your own architect in a team effort.
SITE PREP - Well versed in building site layout and pre-construction ground work. If there's any problem integrating your new structure into difficult terrain, you should know that we have had plenty of experience with steep sites, undeveloped building lots and view property. If your project requires demolition of an older building, excavation, grading or access work, we can get the job done.
FOUNDATION - Experienced with concrete poured-in-place footings, stemwalls and slabs, as well as pole, pier, pile and columnar foundations, including the placement of structural steel reinforcing. We are very experienced in hard rock applications on cliffs and bluffs. If you can visualize a building at a difficult site, we can probably put it there for you.
FRAMING - Standard platform framing, utilizing the best materials and newer wall tilt-up techniques. Experienced with wood frame connections to stone or masonry walls and chimney structures. A favorite style of ours mixes wood framing with logs or post & beam timbers for structural support and visual drama.
EXTERIOR - Traditional board & batten, milled horizontal sidings and other weather surfaces, including brick, stone and stucco are possibilities we can provide. We specialize in standing-seam metal roofing applications, but are used to working with most roofing types. Water-tight membrane surfaces for decks is another skill we have. We can install manufactured windows, doors and skylights, or create and install custom ones for your project.
INTERIOR FINISH - We excel in unique wood interiors. Beyond just normal trims and casings, if your project calls for real wood special effects, like wainscoting, post & beam timber connections or custom fixtures, we can provide them for you. We can create unique wood interior trims in our shop. We've been accused of having sawdust in our blood.
SPECIALTIES - We can also provide the following to further customize your building project:
Custom fine wood cabinetry, designed especially for your purposes and constructed and finished at our own in-house cabinet shop can allow us to outfit your new home with unique one-of-a-kind furnishings and built-ins.
We work with fine blacksmiths and can provide some very pleasing embellishments to your designs. We have our own blacksmith shop where we can create ornamental and structural fittings.
We have a great working relationship with some top stone and tile men capable of installing some truly beautiful flooring, wall and worktop surfaces. You may also care to look at precast textured concrete surfaces as a special effect in your home or lodge. This treatment works very well with fireplace designs or hearths.
Using our own sawmill, we can produce timbers for our building clients. This allows us to get special size posts and beams for the home owner with forested land. The portable bandmill can be taken into remote areas. Imagine incorporating wood cleared from your own property into a house that rises in that clearing!
.A recent addition to the sawmill is a dehumidifcation dry kiln that allows us to produce seasoned finish lumber at 6% humidity. Now even the detailing and trims in your home can come from your wooded lot. See our Custom Dryers page.
Another possibility is the re-use of salvaged wood - with our equipment we can work with just about any old timbers or logs, and construction with these materials contributes to the ecological use of our limited forest resources.
