LUXURY NEW HOMES

This 3500 sqft structure was built around an unfinished 3-story barn-style frame. The original gambrel-roofed building remains the core of this unique year-round residence. Custom oak cabinets and accents throughout. A spiral stairway wrapped around a 16" diameter log with laminated oak hand-rail connects the main floor great room with the upper sleeping floor. The lower floor houses integral garage and workshops. 1988-89

This project was started by a log home contractor who did the lower level of this 2-story home. We came in and topped the structure with the second floor and standing-seam metal roof. The 3000 sqft residence includes some of our custom cabinets and a unique interior exposed log stairway. 1990

This 3500 sqft luxury home is finished with extensive interior woodwork. Beams and timbers blend with oak floors. Sun room windows made by John Janda out of structural glue-lams frame a ever-changing view of the river. The south-facing windows help with solar heating. Cabinets were custom made in our shop and the stairway is built with oak handrails and pickets. [More Images] 1993-94

SMALLER NEW HOMES

A 1400 sqft vacation retreat fit into the surrounding Skagit Valley farmland. Traditional rural appearance with board & batten siding and shed-type roof dormer. Expansive inside with open-beam construction, cathedral ceiling and exposed timber framing. Custom wood cabinets and wainscoting. Floors are pine, and the stairs are in rough-hewn style. September 1994 Sunset Magazine cover story.[More Images] 1991-92

We're still waiting for some good photos of this recently finished job. In the meantime, the link below will move you to a page with construction site images.

This structure is well-grounded on a rock cliff overlooking Burrows Bay and Puget Sound, west of Anacortes on Fidalgo Island. We were responsible for site layout, foundation, framing and interior finish woodwork. This 2500 sqft home was a particularly interesting challenge, as it included hard rock blasting and drilling to anchor the concrete foundation and columns to the spectacular view site. An 1100 sqft jewel featuring a very efficient use of space inside. We drew up plans according to the owner's specs and conceptual design. An open plan with cathedral ceilings, custom cabinets, wood trim and window liners. Designed for retirement living for a single person, the structure is small and very economical to heat. Another happy customer. 1991

Buit for rural living, this home evokes the quaintess of a country cottage outside, with a modern open design inside. Includes hardwood floors, cathedral-style ceiling, and custom cabinets. Full-length old style front porch. Blends in well to its 30 acre setting. 1995

Only 1000 sqft, this is a simple but elegant country getaway. Board and batten cedar exterior siding, standing seam metal roof. Oak floors and cabinets inside. Propane furnace plus a small woodstove for heat. 1992-3

REMODELS & RENOVATIONS

This customer has called us back for successive projects, and we have almost completely renovated this 20 year old country rambler over the past few years. Included were extensive kitchen and bath remodels, an extensive outdoor deck system, a new front entry and work on various outbuildings. Call them to check our references -- they will attest to our commitment to excellence and customer satisfaction. 1992-98

This project involved rebuilding an older existing structure. Result is a very attractive small home with a big impact. Pine flooring, paneling and cabinets, as well as custom tongue-in-groove doors. A well-satisfied customer - thank you Joe. 1994 & 97

CABINETS & BUILT-INS

Another view of the spiral stair in the Forest Retreat. Each of our projects has some features that evoke our craftsmanship. This stairway is of particular interest to many of our customers. We used our metal-working skills to build braces that support the carpet-covered treads., and the laminated oak handrail creates a graceful connection to the loft area above.

Another view of the oak work center in the Two Family Home. This open design kitchen is a pleasure to be in. The cabinets are our own custom work with oak raised panel door in traditional style. The heavy glue-lam beam above supports the upper floor TV room and bedrooms.

This rustic but cleanly finished stairway, and the Z-buck surface sliding door give a rural feel to the inside of the Gardener's Getaway

Hand-forged ornamental gates built to duplicate an existing set at the other end of the front lobby room at Chateau Ste. Michelle winery in Woodinville, WA. Typical of work done by our associate artisan blacksmith.
