LUXURY HOMES - SMALLER NEW HOMES - REMODELS - CABINETRY - OTHER

This side of the house faces the mountainside, and the protected entry leads into the center of the main living level. The entry porch's exposed timber framing sets the rustic tone echoed in the many natural wood interior details.
This dwelling is built to withstand gale force winds, as it is placed on a rocky shelf overlooking the valley floor below. Severe weather is common at this elevation overlooking the upper Skagit River and this home is built to withstand it like a real castle.

The lower level (exercise rooms, lap pool, storage and utility areas) daylights on the valley side of the house. The center level houses kitchen, dining, living areas and the master suite. This north-facing elevation faces straight up the valley and offers fantastic views of mountain peaks. Sitting in the great room next to the Rumford fireplace, enjoying this view, you can't miss the massive beams and timbers which create the wall and protect you from from the northeaster winds that sometimes rage out of the mountains in the distance.

Expansive windows in the 2nd-story center great room provide magnificent views of the mountains in the distance. To the east, mountains in the North Cascades National Park seem right next door. Guest bedrooms and home offices are tucked away on the upper level, and a walkway overlooking the great room connects both wings on this level.

Exposed timber posts and beams, custom milled wood trim, wainscoting and wood flooring come together in the great room. The fireplace provides a focus for the room -- it's a functional reproduction of a design created by Count Benjamin Rumford in the 1700's

The Rumford design calls for a high, wide and shallow firebox, to radiate a maximum amount of heat into the living space. It also warms the soul with its unobstructed view of the spire of flame. Note custom ironwork.

A continuous deck wraps around the building on the valley side, affording an ample outside activity area for large groups or private distance nature-watching. Long-lasting pressure-treated materials used throughout.

Details like this stairway leading from the entry area up to the third story overlooking the great room are typical for this project, which includes custom wood wainscoting, trim and cabinets throughout.
